I’m Agustin
I’m a software engineer with over 6 years of experience in frontend and backend development using Node.js / Express, React (Next.js), Vue (Nuxt), and Angular. Before this I learned web design and crafted websites using different PHP powered CMSs. My background includes working with VPS server-driven startups and AWS, spanning tasks from FTP to GitHub Actions, and from console.log debugging to full-stack monitoring with New Relic. I pride myself on being a team player with a passion for clear communication and thorough documentation. How it all started (WIP)
My dad plugged a Packard Bell 386sx computer in the living room. I did play all the games you could find, learned GW-BASIC, and the MS-DOS console commands to navigate between games. I guess my first programming was creating a .bat file and setting to run when the computer started. Anyway, the internet started to exist, at first, I had only access via my school’s computer room. Suddenly was moving floppy disks with HTML from my home to the school: my first webpage was uploaded to the mythical Geocities free hosting, if you are old enough, you should have heard of it.
Before working for a company I gained experience in web development by crafting websites independently. Initially, I created a variety of sites for personal projects, which eventually evolved into commercial endeavors. This phase of experimentation using Windows notepad and Microsoft Frontpage Express, introduced me to CSS, HTML, and PHP-powered CMS platforms such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and phpBB forums.
As a teenager, I was deeply passionate about rock and reggae music, which inspired me to create several websites dedicated to these genres. These sites were later monetized through the newly launched Google AdSense program. Within a few months, I was earning a steady income and receiving Google checks while living in a developing country. This success motivated me to build a network of websites powered by WordPress and Blogger, hosting Google advertisements and generating a consistent revenue stream, this time the topics were a bit more strategic as underground rock clicks were very low value, I focused in manually translating from English stuff I found at Google and that didn’t exist in spanish internet, which at the time was very tiny.
However, by 2001, revenue declined, the SEO driven Ads were not the same anymore, prompting me to pivot and offer web design and development services, using all my learnings to help others achieve their digital goals. From then until 2008, I worked as a freelance web developer and designer.
In 2013, I moved to London and began contributing to Curzon PR, a marketing and communications agency, working as a web designer and kickstarting my career in tech.
